Lacrimosa

The Heathlands, France, 1920. A young couple, just married, is crossing the threshold of the house that will be their home, a little house secluded in the middle of the wood and close to a black lagoon.

She, Linon, is young and in love. He, Méric, a handsome man always smoking a pipe tobacco that smells of spices and attracts little yellow butterflies. With them, the three sisters of the groom completely covered with black veils, mourning the death of their father, and a priest.

These are the protagonists of a new love story.

This is the beginning of Lacrimosa, the fourth volume of the Spaccacuore series.

Once again Ana Juan and Matz Mainka offer us a romantic and passionate narration, mysterious and fascinating, but above all full of tears.

The author: Matz Mainka is a German artist known for his illustrations and comic strips which he publishes in various European countries – mainly Spain and Germany.

The illustrator: Ana Juan is a Spanish illustrator, writer and painter, born in Valencia in 1961, whose books are published all over the world – Spain, United States, Japan etc. She is well acknowledged for her original, melancholic, romantic and sometimes merciless interpretation of reality and its stories. She is well known for her illustrations published in El País magazine and featured on the covers of the New Yorker magazine and of all Isabel Allende’s novels.

In 2010 she was awarded the National Illustration Prize by the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
