Turandot

by Monica E. Lapenta

Turandot is a princess who lives in Peking. She is known for her beauty but also for her heart of ice. Her father’s hope is to see his daughter married, while Turandot is determined never to marry. Together they strike a bargain that becomes known as Turandot’s law: Anyone who wishes to marry the princess must answer three riddles. If they fail to answer correctly, they will be put to death. Despite this threat, many men, attracted by Turandot’s beauty, come to the public square to face the test. All of them fail, until one day an unknown prince arrives. Will he be able to solve the riddles and win the hand of Turandot?
