Editrice Il Castoro was founded in 1993 and focuses on children’s books and cinema books.
Since 1999, Il Castoro has been dedicated to the production of children’s books for all ages, including fiction, picture books and YA novels. Our children’s books aim to promote the pleasure of reading, to arouse the curiosity of children about contemporary matters and to build the readers of tomorrow.
We are renowned for our multi-awarded titles that provide great literary quality and highly original illustrations. We like to select the very best of Italian children’s writers and illustrators and we are proud to publish many international bestsellers like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork diaries, Pete the cat, Elephant and Piggie. Our authors include: Jeff Kinney, Joelle Jolivet, Tony Ross and Jeanne Willis, Pittau and Gervais, Chris Riddell, Franziska Gehm, Lois Lowry, Chris van Allsburg, Jane Ray, Robert Munsch, Emanuelle Houdart, Gilles Bachelet, Uri Schulevitz, Michael Morpurgo.
The Cinema Catalogue includes over 390 titles, published in conjunction with Italy’s major film festivals and institutions (as such as Venice Film Festival and National Cinema Museum of Turin). “Il Castoro Cinema“ collection, with over 220 titles, represents the world’s most complete series of monographic studies on filmmakers. They are written by leading academics and critics and often provide the only source of accurate and detailed information on the subject.
We have been awarded for the quality of our work with the Premio della Cultura 2002 (National Cultural award for editorial activity, by the Italian Prime Minister’s Presidential Board).
