Carlo A. Martigli
Carlo A. Martigli was born in Pisa and currently lives in Liguria. He was a private banker, but left the job to be a full-time writer and a freelance editor and journalist. While he was attending a master class at Bocconi, he was awarded as best supporting actor at the Theater Festival of Livorno for his role in Goldoni’s Donna di Garbo. He has participated in several radio and TV shows and has acted in the documentary Sporchi da Morire by Marco Carlucci, the Italian Michael Moore. He is nevertheless a well-known journalist: for some years he has run a web column (NetNews) on Repubblica and has collaborated with several newspapers. He is appreciated as a teacher in Communication and Marketing, and has taught Creative Writing at several academies, libraries and cultural associations in Bologna, Genoa and Agrigento. He has also worked as an art-director in several marketing campaigns.
He started his career as an author with a book of rhymed fables, Duelli castelli e gemelli, but his greatest and breakthrough success has been the historical thriller 999: L’ultimo custode, a bestseller translated in several countries worldwide, that together with his subsequent major thriller L’Eretico has sold over 200,000 copies in Italy alone.
