The American Library Association (ALA) decides to cancel its Annual Conference and Exhibition, which was scheduled for June 25-30, 2020, in Chicago. ALA, founded in 1878 in Philadelphia, is the oldest and largest library association in the world. Its mission is “to provide leadership for the development, promotion and improvement of library and information services and the profession of librarianship in order to enhance learning and ensure access to information for all”.
The decision was taken in response to the Coronavirus outbreak, following the cancellation of many other book fairs, expos and business conventions through the world.
