Poem Strip, Dino Buzzati’s Tantalizing Graphic Novel, Translated For The First Time Into English

Dino Buzzati was an Italian novelist, short story writer, graphic artist, painter and poet, as well as a journalist for Corriere della Sera. Best known worldwide for his novel Il deserto dei Tartari, translated into English as The Tartar Steppe, his English-speaking fans are eagerly awaiting the October 6th publication of Buzzati’s Poem Strip. Translated for the first time into English by Marina Harss, the groundbreaking graphic novel from the 1960s has been described as “a dark and alluring investigation into mysteries of love, lust, sex, and death by Dino Buzzati, a master of the Italian avant-garde.”

On October 6th, The New York Review Classics hosted a celebration of Poem Strip’s publication at Idlewild Books (12 West 19th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues, New York City) with the book’s translator to mark the occasion.
