The Gianna e Roberto Denti Award, sponsored by the Associazione Italiana Editori (AIE – Italian Association of Publishers) and the children’s magazine Andersen, has been awarded to the bookstore “Farollo e Falpalà” of Florence.
Established in 2013 as a family and neighborhood bookstore from by Chiara Zeccardo and Francesco Andrea Fagnini, the bookstore bears the same name chosen by the two founders when they created two clown doctors to visit and entertain pediatric patients at the hospital. Hence, Farollo and Falpalà indeed.
As the for the reasons for the jury’s choice of Farollo e Falpala’: «They have been able to build, over the course of a decade, a lively and welcoming place, and with constant planning, create a family-centered and neighborhood reality, with a wide-ranging impact; for having put the expertise acquired over the years of relationships with children in the role of clown doctors to the service of children at their bookstore”.
