March 2011 – The Italian Trade Commission announces Italy’s official participation at NECTFL 2011 with an Italian Pavilion showcasing books, catalogues and multimedia products from the following 5 publishers and 2 language schools. The 58th edition will be held at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel from April 2-3. NECTFL is the most important regional convention in the Northeast of the United States for the teaching of foreign languages. 110 exhibitors will participate and over 2,000 foreign language professionals are expected to attend.
The Italian Pavilion will include the Italian Trade Commission (Booth #1201), the Consulate General of Italy in Philadelphia, the Consulate of Italy in Baltimore, ENIT – The Italian Tourism Office, NIAF (National Italian American Foundation), the Italian Cultural Center Inc. of Maryland and A.I.S. (America-Italy Society). Visitors to the Italian Pavilion will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Accademia Italiana, Edilingua Edizioni, Guerra Edizioni, Paramica and Sorrento Lingue Institute. A total of 18 sessions about the Italian language and culture will be presented.
According to the U.S. Department of Commerce (Bureau of Census), in 2010 Italy was among the major foreign suppliers of books, newspapers and other printed matter, exporting $82 million of products, in particular dictionaries, encyclopedias, bibles, newspapers and journals.
The Italian Trade Commission is the government agency entrusted with promoting trade, industrial and technological cooperation, and disseminating economic information regarding Italy abroad.
