Sorelle

by Matz Mainka. Ana Juan illustrator

Sisters

Once upon a time a frightful storm saw the birth of two twin sisters, two little girls joined together by their strong, root-like hair. The moment they were parted, a dreadful scream pierced the silence. They grew up in solitude, in a world of their own whose access they denied to anyone else… till on a spring day one of them finally met love.

A sad, languishing story of love and obsession, morbid ties and sickness, in which the red colour of the hair (of blood and dreams) breaks through a grey, foggy world made up of gloomy characters and mournful rooms.

2010 National Illustration Award of the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
