Canada is such an enormous country that it spreads, as its official motto proudly proclaims, “from sea to sea.” This large country ranges all the way from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Its border with the United States is the longest in the world, and beyond that border there is a fascinating multicultural and bilingual nation that dates back to the 1400s, when French and English colonists recognized the potential of those wide open spaces and settled there. Today, Canada is a beautiful and richly varied country, a melting pot of different ethnicities and traditions, and a collection of stunning natural landscapes and sights. The Central Plains, the Appalachian Mountains, the Great Lakes, the Arctic Cordillera and the large modern cities in the southern part of the country are all part of a fascinating array of people and places united under Canada’s maple leaf flag.
