The theater is the only place in the world that works the magic of canceling social differences. Theater unites everyone, rich and poor, in universal passions and desires, enriches the soul and spirit by becoming part of the very life of its audience. It does not seem irreverent, therefore, if we tell the story of Petruzzelli as if he were a 'living' creature, since this 'our' theater has spanned a century sharing the same experiences that have marked the lives of three, four generations of Apulians.

A bandit ambush, an almost fatal fire, on 27 October 1991 interrupted a long series of successes and glory. It seemed like the end. These were the years in which racketeering, criminal associations, the degradation of political and social life seemed unstoppable...
