This volume collects the most beautiful paintings and illustrations created by Leonardo, in an attempt to answer the question: How was beauty defined by a master and genius such as Leonardo?
Author Carlo Pedretti, an international expert on the artist and the Armand Hammer Chair in Leonardo Studies at UCLA, is perhaps the only person capable of answering this question through the study of the depictions of nature and portraits contained herein.
Pages 102 to 216 of this volume study specific images and their evolution from drawing to painting in the hands of this unique artist. The last pages of the book are a time line of Leonardo’s life.
Further titles in this series:
Klimt, Liberty, Van Gogh, Caravaggio, Ukiyo – E
