Odyssey: The Man Who Chose Knowledge

The Miniature Greek Literature series consists of 30 volumes, of which the first 11 are already in print.

The series introduces Greek authors through their writing, the aim being to provide an account of their cultural development, their message and the contribution they have made to Western and World culture. This is ‘miniature’ literature both in the sense that the authors and their works are presented in accessible single-subject volumes which are designed to introduce readers to the beauty, profundity and present-day relevance of classical culture.

Odysseus learns to his own cost that quenching one’s thirst for knowledge involves suffering: this new discovery is of fundamental importance both in Greek thought and Western culture since it forms the basis of a new vision of man characterised primarily by rationality.
