A WORKBOOK FRIEND – PERIMETER AND AREA

The seventh book in the “A Workbook Friend” series, this book involves the students in the “construction” of the formulas used to calculate the perimeter and area of ​​the shapes, always taking their cue from problem-situations of increasing difficulty.  The proposed problem-situations are inspired by the everyday life and experiences of the children to activate a metacognitive reflection about: measurement, relative modalities, and underlying semantics. Starting from the problem-situation, the function of measurement is understood in an intuitive way.

The book is divided into two parts.  The first part contains activities for «building» knowledge and consists of 10 worksheets labelled «Experiment».  Through illustrated examples, the worksheets allow the students to independently build the reasoning skills at the basis of the mathematical concept.  The second part contains structured exercises for consolidating knowledge already acquired and consists of 10 worksheets labelled «Consolidate».
