Zoology seems to be a rather mysterious and unknown science, yet the study of the characteristics and life of animals is very fascinating: how did the giraffe get its long neck? What does a warthog tell a wildbeest when they meet in the savana? What happened when dinosaurs all died out? What secret will the journalist shrew reveal with its next interview? This is a little dissemination journey in twenty short stories, an opportunity to uncover something new about their lives, habits and the evolution that made them what they are – and from their own point of view. This is a book to fall in love with zoology, thanks to a very simple and amusing style and to the lovely yet realistic illustrations by Laura Martinuzzi.
Dino Ticli is a geologist and teacher, as well as an author of twenty books for children and adolescents. He was a nominee of the 1996 international Andersen Fairy-tale Bay Award (for The old man and the sea) and the national Gutenberg Prize. He was one of the three winners of the “Gianni Cordone” national competion for children’s literature in Vigevano in 2000 (for Ruga – a myth is born). His books include: To the circus (Editoriale Scienza), Seven days in Piro Piro (Il battello a vapore, Piemme), Even dinosaurs poop (Lapis), and My doggie cut one (Coccole e Caccole).
