ControCorrente, an exhibit of magazines and artists’ books from publishers of visual poetry, is currently on view at the Fondazione Berardelli in Brescia. Curated by Marco Bazzini and Melania Gazzotti in collaboration with Nicole Zanoletti, the exhibit provides an overview of the publishing houses – many of which are independent and founded and directed by the artists themselves – which in the sixties and seventies published magazines and art books that radicalized the expressive power of words accompanied by the image, creating an artistic movement referred to as visual poetry. The traveling exhibit was previously on display at the Museo della Musica in Bologna during the Artelibro Festival, and will then move to the Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato.
