NECTFL 2010

March 2010 – The Italian Trade Commission announces Italy’s official participation at NECTFL 2010 with an Italian Pavilion showcasing books, catalogues and multimedia products from the following 6 publishers and 4 language schools. The 57th edition will be held at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel on Broadway from March 26th-27th. NECTFL is the most important regional convention in the Northeast of the United States for the teaching of foreign languages. 140 exhibitors will participate and over 2,500 foreign language professionals are expected to attend.

The Italian Pavilion will include the Italian Trade Commission (Booth #300); the Consulate General of Italy (Booth #309), the Italian Institute of Culture in New York (Booth #311), ENIT – The Italian Tourism Office (Booth #310), IACE – Italian American Committee on Education (Booth #308), ILICA (Booth #313), the John D. Calandra Institute (Booth #312), AATI – American Association of Teachers of Italian (Booth #314), and EduItalia (Booth #315). Visitors to the Italian Pavilion will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from Accademia Italiana, Arcobaleno, Babilonia – Center for Italian Studies, Edilingua Edizioni, Guerra Edizioni, La Scuola and Sorrento Lingue Institute. A total of 14 sessions about the Italian language and culture will be presented.

 

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce (Bureau of Census), in 2009 Italy was among the major foreign suppliers of books, newspapers and other printed matter, exporting $70 million of products, in particular dictionaries, encyclopedias, bibles, newspapers and journals.

 

The Italian Trade Commission is the government agency entrusted with promoting trade, industrial and technological cooperation, and disseminating economic information regarding Italy abroad. The Chicago Office is responsible, among others, for the publishing sector, as well as maintaining and regularly updating its publishing website.
