In a recent article by Porter Anderson posted on Publishing Perspectives, Publishing Perspectives – Ambrosiana, the historic Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana, founded in 1609, officially announced an agreement with the Sharjah Book Authority to launch the digitization of more than 2,500 significant aging manuscripts for shared accessibility in their libraries. These manuscripts — some more than 450 years old – are to be made digitally available through Sharjah’s public library system. The agreement was signed by Lorenzo Ornaghi, Ambrosiana’s conservation director and Ahmed Al Ameri, Sharjah Book Authority chair.
At the forefront of development of library collections since 1609, the Biblioteca Ambrosiana is a shining example of the global outlook of Italy’s book culture.
