The New York Book Expo has been cancelled.
Originally, the organizers (ReedPop) moved the event from May to July, but since the COVID-19 pandemic has continued to escalate in the United States, they took the decision to cancel the 2020 edition. Reed Pop looks forward to coming back with a stronger and bigger Book Expo in the spring of 2021.
The part of the expo specifically designed for the book rights market, the New York Rights Fair (NYRF), will also take place in the spring of 2021, at the K. Javits Center, which now serves as a federally operated COVID-19 hospital. Days and schedules of the event have not yet been announced
Publishing Perspectives highlights that all five American publishing companies, known as the Big Five, withdrew from the NY BookExpo and that Ingram Content Group, one of the biggest holder of real estate at BookExpo, also exited the event.
